10 plants that can filter the air in your house according to nasa

You might not realize it but the air in your home can be filled with toxins! Toxins are more common than you might think and can be found in anything from the paint on your walls to the paper bags you carry your groceries in. These toxins secrete into the air which we then breathe into our bodies.

There are six types of toxins that are present in our air:

TRICHLOROETHYLENE: Found in paints, lacquers, printing inks, varnishes, adhesives and paint remover
FORMALDEHYDE: Found in paper bags, facial tissues, waxed papers, paper towels, table napkins, plywood paneling and synthetic fabrics
BENZENE: Used to make plastics, synthetic fibers, rubber lubricants, dyes, detergents, drugs and pesticides. Can also be found in tobacco smoke, vehicle exhausts, glue, paint, and furniture wax
XYLENE: Found in printing, rubber, leather and paint industries, tobacco smoke and vehicle exhausts.
AMMONIA: Found in window cleaners, floor waxes, smelling salts and fertilizers

Growing an avocado tree at home in 5 simple steps

Avocados have recently become very popular, and we won’t hesitate to say it’s the most popular ingredient in restaurant meals and many home recipes. Yes, avocados are everywhere. Only those stranded on a deserted island for the past couple years haven’t heard about this fruit!

Well, we must admit that the popularity of avocado is well deserved. Not only does it taste good, but it’s also stuffed with substances useful to our bodies. Those include potassium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E. What is more, avocados contain heart-healthy fats and a lot of fiber.

The only downside of the ‘avocado trend’ is the high price of this fruit. Over the past year, the average price of avocados has gone up by over 25%. Of course, you don’t have to give up this incredibly healthy fruit to save you money.

Today, we’ll tell you how to grow an avocado tree in a small pot at home. All you need is one avocado, some time, and love.

Here is an instruction on how to grow an avocado tree from a seed:

1. Sprout
Take one avocado, take out the seed and clean it carefully. Stick four toothpicks into the bottom of the seed at equal distances apart, about halfway down. Make sure you know which end is top and which is the bottom. Get a glass of water and set your seed in it. The toothpicks should keep it soaking in an inch of water.

Place the glass with the seed out of direct sunlight but in a warm place until the stem grows to six inches and the roots are visible. This growth should take between two to six weeks. After you get a 6-inch sprout, cut it back to three inches. Wait for more leaves to grow and for the stem to reach six inches again.

2. Plant
Get a large plant pot, about ten inches in diameter. The pot must have a small hole in the bottom for drainage. Fill it with nutrient rich soil. Make a small hole in the soil and place the seed into it, making sure the half of the seed is exposed above the soil.

3. Take Care
Move the planted tree to a sunny area of your home. Water it generously and regularly, ensuring that the soil remains moist but not saturated. When you water it, always let the excess water drain through the hole in the pot.

4. Wait

Keep taking care of your tree, and it will finally flourish. You might have to wait a couple of years until you see the fruit. But when it does, you’ll be enjoying your very own fresh and delicious avocados.

5.Enjoy

What it means if you see a bent tree in the forest

Have you ever been hiking in the woods and noticed this strange anomaly: a tree bent over in the woods, fairly low to the ground and looking pretty unnatural among the other upright trees in the forest. If so, you may have just thought it a funny trick of nature, maybe snapped a picture, and moved on.

But for anyone who’s familiar with Native American culture, you might know exactly what you’ve stumbled upon. And in that case, you’ll probably want to start looking around immediately.

Why? Well, according to the national American Forests website, bent trees are clear Native American trail markers. The original residents of North American soil used to strap the trees down and allow them to grow so the bend became permanent. The bend would point Natives in the direction of a path, stream, or river.

As the website details, Native Americans would often bend trees as saplings so they would grow into this bent shape:

“Native Americans would bend young trees to create permanent trail markers, designating safe paths through rough country and pointing travelers toward water, food or other important landmarks. Over the years, the trees have grown, keeping their original shape, but with their purpose all but forgotten as modern life sprang up around them.”

However, academics point out that just because you’ve spotted a bent tree in the woods doesn’t mean you’ve DEFINITELY uncovered a piece of Native American history. There are a few qualifying factors you have to check off to determine whether or not you’ve found one of these incredibly rare trees:

Are you in an area where it Native Americans previously inhabited?
Is the tree old enough to have been around hundreds of years ago?
Is the bend low to the ground?
Is there any type of landmark in the area that would warrant a marker?
Are you living east of the Mississippi River?
Are you looking at an oak tree?
If you can definitively say yes to all of the above, you might have a trail marker tree on your hands. As all these qualifiers make clear, they’re a very special thing to find — even if all the boxes have been checked, experts would still be skeptical since trees CAN naturally grow in this bent shape.

Have you ever found one of these bent trees in your area? Do you think it was the work of ancient Native Americans? Make sure to share your experiences with us!

He put up a barrier around his house and everybody laughed at him, but days later he was the only one who could laugh…

In the United States, a man spent $8,300 buying 400 feet of plastic material to protect his house. Everybody thought he was crazy.

Randy Wagner, scared about the floods about to hit Rosharon, Texas, decided to protect his home.

What did Randy do? This man researched online how he could protect his house against floods and discovered a system which involved constructing a containment barrier around the space he wished to protect.

With the 400 feet of plastic, Randy built a barrier which held the water back and didn’t allow it to reach the house. This kind of wall rose 30 feet.

When his neighbors saw him building the barrier, they all thought Randy had gone crazy; but when the floods arrived it seemed he was the only wise one.

Randy spent $8,300 on the installation process, but he saved $150,000 in damages and house repairs.

Can you find the woman hiding in this painting?

German artist Jörg Düsterwald is a master at body painting which, if you’ve never heard of the medium, is exactly what it sounds like: using the human body as a canvas for paintings. Düsterwald, a native of Hameln, Germany, has been perfecting body artistry for 20 years and his social media channels are a delight for the eyes and mind.

But when the artist posted one photo, along with a challenge to “find the woman in the picture,” many of his followers struggled to figure out where the painted lady was hidden.

Düsterwald has created plenty of beautiful paintings that also act as a mind game, but this is probably one of his more difficult ones to crack. Let’s set the scene for you:

When you first look at the picture, you notice it’s a beautiful wall scene. There’s a tall, concrete wall with a wrought-iron gate, surrounded by trees which are seasonally shedding. All of the leaves, in gorgeous yellows and oranges, are scattered along the ground – and somewhere within the scenery is a woman, painted head-to-toe and cleverly disguised.

The challenge quickly evolved from “can you find the woman” to “can you find the woman in under five seconds.” Internet websites have been hailing anyone who can find the woman quickly (or at all) as someone who has a higher than usual IQ. We’re not sure what scientific evidence they have to back this claim up, but it IS pretty hard to find the hidden woman!

Have you found her yet? We won’t spoil it for you if you wanted to keep searching, but make sure to share this if you’ve found the hidden woman.

Check out a few more of Düsterwald’s pieces from this series, which celebrates all things autumn in the beautiful forests of Lower Saxony in Germany. And, of course, each one featured the same model (whose name is Nadine) who’s been camouflaged to blend seamlessly into the fall backgrounds.

Honestly, this one was tricky for us! It took us a second look-over to find where she was hiding in this autumnal scene. Here’s a hint: she’s not blending into what she’s ON, but what she’s in FRONT of.

Another tree-related trick of the eye! This one might not be as tricky as the one that really blew up online, but it’s still a gorgeous scene and a fun mind game.

Make sure to check out Düsterwald’s website for more gorgeous body art and mind-boggling pictures!

Blue lake in the southern alps of new zealand is the clearest in the world

Rotomairewhenua or Blue Lake is located in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, 3900 feet above the sea level. Its waters are considered the clearest in the world. However, only a few people can enter the lake, since it is protected by the local law to preserve its clarity.

The landscapes around are incredibly beautiful, so the site attracts tourists.

They can walk by or stand on the shore, but they are strictly forbidden to swim or get into the water.

Well, we doubt many people would do it! The temperature of Blue Lake is unwelcoming: 41 to 46 °F.

However, there are people that had to dive into it! These are scientists.

They conducted some research.

They also determined the record-breaking visibility of Blue Lake’s water ranging from 230 to 260 ft compared to the 260 ft of distilled water!

Rotomairewhenua is sacred for local Māori people. The waters were used in their rituals. Its indigenous name means “the lake of peaceful lands.”

People don’t understand this guy’s reaction to his girlfriend falling from a cliff

Cliff jumping has been an activity that many have enjoyed for a long time. People mostly do it when they are on vacation in a tropical destination. There’s something really appealing about standing on a high cliff in a beautiful destination, staring at ocean blue waters and deciding to jump right into it.

As much as it is a fun activity, there’s something very dangerous about it. You have to get the perfect jump in order to not hit your head against the rocks. If you’re with a group of people, you have to trust that they’ll have your back if something goes wrong.

For example, if you chicken out mid-jump and want to grab onto your friend’s ankle to potentially prevent you from falling, they help you out. But that wasn’t the case for a couple who was on the edge of a high cliff preparing to jump.

The footage went viral as a girl in a bikini tried to position herself for the huge leap, but she lost her footing on the rock and began to fall over the edge. The unnamed girl naturally reached out and tried to cling on to her boyfriend’s ankle for support, but he pulled his leg away.

We totally understand that deciding what to do in that split second as your girlfriend is falling from a cliff isn’t easy, but people are just not impressed with how this guy reacted to the situation.

A lot of people pointed out that the guy should have tried to do something. Others pointed out that the guy should have tried to push the girl further out so she doesn’t hit the rocks on the way down.

Regardless, people don’t know what the guy was doing. Either he was pretty annoyed that his girlfriend chickened out from jumping and wanted her to follow through or maybe he was in a moment of panic and wasn’t thinking straight. You guys can be the judge. Watch the video below.

As for me, roses are among the most beautiful flowers in the world, so it is not surprising that many people love them. But if you try to grow roses, you will understand very quickly that it is not easy. Here is an incredible trick to help you to grow roses successfully from a rose stem. With a little effort, you will enjoy a yard full of these wonderful flowers.

You will need a cut-down rose, a potato, soil, a plant pot and some plastic bottles. At first, you should remove all leaves from the rose stem and cut it at an angle of 45 degrees. Then make something like a hole in the potato and place the stem in. It is important to fix it well. The next step is to fill 2/3 of the plant pot with soil and put the potato in. Fill the rest of the pot with soil. The last thing you need to do is to cut the plastic bottle and cover your flower.

You will notice the first signs of growing just in a week! Watch the video below to see detailed instructions and share this useful information with your friends who love roses!

Hole in lake sparks curiosity, so man flies drone inside & captures breathtaking footage!

After a severe five-year-drought in California, the Golden State finally received enough rain this last winter to declare areas of the state drought-free. Rain and snow poured down on the Sierra Nevada mountain range and Northern California, allowing lakes and reservoirs that were previously dried up to fill to max capacity.

One area of the state that received the much needed rainfall was in Napa County. Known for its rolling hills and meadows, the county is a popular tourist attraction. However, as a result of the drought, much of the area had started drying up; including Lake Berryessa, the seventh largest man-made lake in California.

Sitting up against the side of a 304-foot dam, Lake Berryessa is famous for its “Glory Hole” spillway, an incredible sight to behold when at full capacity.

Unfortunately, for over a decade there has not been enough water for the Glory Hole to be seen in action.

After years of dry winters, this past January and February finally brought record-breaking levels of rain to the region. There was so much rain, the lake actually filled up within a matter of a few days! The Glory Hole went to work once again.

Measuring at the widest part of the opening, the hole is 72 feet across and, as it travels down the funnel, eventually narrows down to 28 feet. The water flows through the funnel and eventually drains into Putah Creek.

YouTube user Evan K was able to catch drone footage of the hole in action so that everyone could witness a sight that hasn’t taken place in a long time. With incredible shots of the iconic Napa scenery and the rushing power of the lake, you will find yourself completely mesmerized by this footage!
