Days of our Lives viewers are no strangers to Kristen’s manipulations, twisted plots, and ruthless behavior whenever she decides she deserves something. She has lied, schemed, threatened, and destroyed lives before. But what she recently did to Johnny and Sophia may have pushed her beyond the point of forgiveness.

The DiMera Villain May Have Trapped Herself
Days of our Lives Kristen
It usually does not take much for Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) to snap into full revenge mode, especially when she believes someone has hurt or used her daughter, Rachel (Lorelei Olivia Mote). That was exactly what set off her latest dangerous spiral, pulling Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Sophia (Rachel Boyd) directly into the middle of her fury.
Fans often enjoy watching Kristen completely unravel because it gives Haiduk a chance to deliver intense, dramatic performances. This time, however, the character’s actions felt far more disturbing than entertaining. Kristen did not need to target Johnny just to get back at EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) for his role in Rachel shooting him.
Johnny had not done anything to Kristen or Rachel. He simply ended up being used as collateral damage in another one of Kristen’s revenge games. The DiMeras have always been a deeply dysfunctional family, but even by their twisted standards, this went past the usual villainous chaos Kristen is known for.
Making Kristen’s latest plan even more disturbing is what she did to Sophia. It was obvious from the start that Kristen was never truly helping her. She was using Sophia as a tool to punish her for dragging Rachel into her plan against Holly (Ashley Puzemis).
Kristen blamed Sophia for Rachel ending up back at Bayview. But convincing Sophia to write a fake suicide note was already cruel enough. Kristen, of course, did not stop there. In classic Kristen fashion, she decided to eliminate any loose ends by knocking Sophia unconscious and throwing her into the river.
Now the people of Salem believe Sophia took her own life after supposedly trying to kill Johnny. Meanwhile, Kristen is likely preparing for whatever cruel step she plans to take next against EJ. But the problem for Kristen is simple: secrets never stay buried in Salem for long, and her time may be running out fast.
Once EJ learns that Kristen had a hand in Johnny nearly dying, there is no telling how far he will go to make sure she is silenced for good. That is assuming the Salem PD does not uncover what really happened to Sophia and Johnny first. Of course, longtime fans know Salem’s police department does not exactly have the strongest record when it comes to solving crimes quickly.
The newest DAYS preview suggested that Sophia appears very much alive, leaving Kristen visibly shaken. It is possible that the moment is only a nightmare or a guilt-driven vision, but the chances of Sophia actually being gone forever feel extremely low.
Haiduk has previously commented on her future with DAYS now that she has returned to The Young and the Restless as Patty. Unfortunately for Kristen fans, the actress confirmed that the character has once again been placed on the sidelines. That likely means Kristen will eventually be forced to face the consequences of everything she has done sometime this year.
Sophia’s alleged attempt on Johnny’s life is creating more questions than answers, and Kristen is quickly becoming the person everyone should be watching. On top of that, Tony and Anna have returned to Salem at a very interesting time, and the latest Days of Our Lives preview is teasing one major mystery: is Sophia really dead, or is she still alive?
Too Many Mysteries to Ignore
Last week, Brady, Jada, and Amy Choi learned that Sophia had disappeared, but not before leaving behind what appeared to be a suicide note. And as if that were not shocking enough, she was also accused of trying to kill Johnny. But Sophia’s situation took an even darker turn when her plan with Kristen to fake her death did not go the way she expected. Instead of simply helping Sophia vanish, Kristen struck her in the back of the head with a rock as punishment for using Rachel in her scheme. From the looks of it, poor Sophia may have been killed.
Next week, Jada brings Amy Choi to the Salem PD to reveal that the blood they discovered could be a match for Sophia. Could be? That seems like the kind of detail the Salem PD should probably confirm before delivering such devastating news to a mother.
Elsewhere in Salem, Joy’s unexpected arrival with her and Alex’s daughter, Kelsey, stunned both Alex and Stephanie. Coming up, Joy tells Alex that she has made the decision to stay in Salem this time. Stephanie may have a very real reason to worry about Joy getting closer to her husband, especially considering how much Alex has been dreaming about starting a family.
Shadows From the Past Return
The promo also hints that at least one person is starting to suspect Kristen has been involved in something terrible. Kristen acts offended when EJ questions whether she had anything to do with the attack on Johnny, but her reaction may not be enough to keep suspicion away from her for long.
Meanwhile, Tony and Anna are back in Salem, and their return comes just in time for the reading of Stefano’s will. Knowing Anna, she will almost certainly have plenty to say about that situation.
Finally, Kristen is alone in the DiMera living room, reading, when a blood-covered Sophia suddenly appears and terrifies her. Sophia looks at her and says, “What’s wrong, Kristen? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
So the biggest question remains: is Sophia truly alive, or is Kristen finally being haunted by the consequences of her own actions?
